Dr. Benjamin Greidanus is a Sport and Exercise Medicine physician (SEM from CCFP; Diploma in Sports Medicine from CASEM). He is dedicated to helping individuals of all ages maintain an active lifestyle by diagnosing, managing, and treating conditions that interfere with movement, performance, and overall well-being. With training in both Family Medicine and Sport and Exercise Medicine, he brings a comprehensive and patient-centred approach to every case.
Dr. Greidanus has experience working with professional and varsity athletes, as well as active individuals across a broad range of sports. His team and event involvement includes serving as Co-Team Physician for the MacEwan University Men’s Hockey Team and Varsity Athletics (2018–present), Team Canada Physician for the FIS Alpine World Cup (2022 & 2026), and Chief Medical Officer for both the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship (2022) and the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup (2024). Earlier in his training, he provided medical coverage for the University of Alberta Golden Bears Hockey Team, the Edmonton Huskies Football Club, and numerous national and international events in alpine skiing, rugby, volleyball, wrestling, and lacrosse.
Dr. Greidanus joined Advantage Sport Medicine Clinic in 2026 after the University of Alberta closed the Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic, where he practiced from 2017 to 2025. He is proficient in ultrasound-guided injection procedures, including PRP, and is a member of the Acute Knee Injury Clinic (AKIC). Outside the clinic, he also works as a Family Physician and Orthopedic Hospitalist, and serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta. He also commits time volunteering, participating in orthopedic humanitarian missions in Ecuador with Operation Esperanza (EMAS), where he currently serves as Team Leader for the annual mission. His training includes a Sport and Exercise Medicine Enhanced Skills Residency (2016–2017) and a Family Medicine Residency (2014–2016) at the University of Alberta, as well as an MD from the University of Hawaii (2010–2014).
An athlete himself, he enjoys running, hockey, soccer, downhill skiing, and training for triathlons at an amateur level. He currently sees patients on Wednesdays.
